If you haven’t heard, Windows 7 extended support is going end of life January 14th, 2020.
What does this mean?
It means that Microsoft will no longer provide security patching or operating system updates for Windows 7.
Is my computer going to stop working?
No, your computer will continue to operate, however as time goes on, you’ll be more susceptible to any vulnerabilities found in existing code. Typically if you have a good antivirus or security solution, you should be fine, but this comes with a caveat. Software developers are no longer developing applications for Windows 7. This doesn’t mean those applications won’t work, but they haven’t been tested or quality controlled for Windows 7.
What should I do?
Well, we would recommend upgrading to Windows 10. Some computers won’t be able to upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10 due to hardware compatibility, but most will. The good news is, there’s still a way to get a FREE upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10. We highly suggest backing up your operating system before trying to perform this upgrade.
